About KURASHiNOwa

About KURASHiNO和

Japanese craftsmanship,
carried forward through a culture of giving.

We connect the intentions of makers with the feelings of those who give, helping Japanese craft find a natural place in contemporary life.

OUR ORIGIN

It began with one artisan.

Our story began when we encountered not only an artisan’s skill and work, but the conviction behind it. We wanted more people to experience that depth.

Japanese handcraft faces profound change as lifestyles evolve and fewer successors enter the field. Yet people cannot choose—or help preserve—what they have never had the chance to know.

In 2020, the Kyosei Project began using the perspective and digital fluency of a younger generation to share Japanese craft and the voices of its makers. KURASHiNOwa is the commerce brand born from that work.

WHAT WE VALUE

What we value

Share the maker’s intent

We share more than the finished piece: the years spent refining a skill and the values each maker protects.

Choose for real life

We select crafts to use, give, and pass on—not simply to display—so they belong naturally in life today.

Connect with a new generation

Through stories, social media, and hands-on experiences, we make craft approachable to people discovering it for the first time.

OUR JOURNEY

Our journey

2020 | The Kyosei Project begins

Four university students launched the project around a shared goal: helping a younger generation carry tradition forward. Our first crowdfunding campaign raised ¥853,000, reaching 106% of its goal.

Sharing through commerce and social media

We began presenting and selling work from artisans who shared our vision, introducing a younger audience to the people and contemporary life behind traditional craft.

2024–2025 | Toward new experiences

Inspired by artisans who told us that craft reveals its true appeal when held, we began developing more direct experiences. Our second campaign received ¥453,000 from 45 supporters.

TEAM

Together, across generations and roles

Today, around 30 university students and professionals—primarily in their twenties and thirties—work alongside artisans. We combine a younger generation’s perspective and energy with the knowledge of makers to create products, experiences, and new forms of value.
